SEATTLE: Does It Ever Rain Here? Plus a New Fish and a Bonus Quiz

Seriously...I think it's rained once since we moved here. Oh sure, some mornings start out cloudy, but it always burns off by the time about 9 am hits. How is this place so green? Something tells me I'm about to find out in about..say...four weeks.

We adopted Cara and Josh's fish, Ferdinand, or Ferdy, as he is known. Yes, that brings our zoo to four guinea pigs, a cat, and a goldfish. He is fantabulous.

Okay, so Andrew sent me this online quiz about himself and I did awful (6/10 correct). I basically got an F... or maybe a D-... I'll let Andrew be the judge. So I thought I would return the favor to all my blog readers (all three of you). You can take my quiz here. It's short. I encourage you all to create your own quizzes. It's easy, free and pretty fun! I promise to take any quiz.

Regarding the quiz...are all of the answers within your personal profile? If not, is there some sort of biography available that we could read BEFORE taking the quiz?

My experience with Seattle weather has, fortunately, been the same. Perhaps its reputation for bad weather is a myth spread by natives o reduce the influx of new Seattlites?

My friend who grew up in the area says the weather is actually bad for about four months of the year...otherwise it's great.

Hang in there on both the Blog and the Job Search...

And...what are the names of the fish?

My first comment on Seattle weather hasn't appeared? Does that mean you have to sign up for a google account before posting?

Anyhow, some questions regarding MP3 players. After sitting next to two IPod owners on my recent flights, I decided to purchase one.

Found a helpful salesperson and spent an hour with him reviewing ALL of the MP3 players they had for sale. He did NOT recommend an IPod. Said he thought they were one of the all-time great marketing frauds. My basic requirements were: size (for use during exercise and on planes), music and quality sound, FM Tuner, ability to record from FM Tuner and voice recorder, and easily changable battery.

He recommended either a Creative Solutions or San Disk MP3 player. Unfortunately (for him), I found a San Disk c140 model at another store at considerably less money than his store was offering. But, if I decide to move up to the top of the line...I'll go back and purchase the new Creative Solutions video/MP3 Player from him.

The San Disk model seems to satisfy all of my requirements...as a bonus, it comes with a lanyard (for plane use). I purchased an arm band carrier for sports activities, which also came with a case, which may be hooked either to the arm band or to a belt. Operation (navigating, downloading, etc.) seems relatively simple. It runs on a single AAA battery, with approx. 15 hrs of battery life. It comes in either 1G or 2G models. I choose the 1G, for less money, and as a "test case" - i.e. to see if I'll really use it before moving up to something with greater capacity.

Thus far, the only "disadvantage" I've found is being "looked down upon" by IPod owners...which have apparently become some sort of cult.

The entire investment was under $100...an IPod, with appropriate accecessories and no voice recorder available at all, would have been close to $300 ($150 for the basic unit; $100 for an FM Tuner attachment; $50 for a case).

Any comments?
